Terms of Service
Last updated: October 2, 2026
These terms cover Chap, the assistant made by ChatPanel — the browser extension, the desktop and phone apps, the command-line tools, the ChatPanel Bridge and Gateway — and this website. By installing or using any of them you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, do not use them.
Using ChatPanel
- You may use ChatPanel for personal or business purposes, in line with these terms and the law that applies to you.
- Do not use it to break the law, to harm others, to get into systems or accounts you are not allowed to use, or to get around the plan limits or the licence check.
- You are responsible for your devices, your accounts and the keys and passwords you store in ChatPanel, including your backup password — we cannot recover it.
Your data
Your chats, notes, meetings and settings are yours. ChatPanel is local-first: they stay on your devices and go only where you send them. What is stored and what leaves your device is set out in the Privacy Policy, which is part of these terms.
Models, agents and services you connect
ChatPanel works with AI models, coding agents and services that other companies provide — a model endpoint you configure, an agent installed on your computer, Google Drive for backups, tools you add. Your use of each is governed by that provider's own terms and privacy policy, and you are responsible for any charges they make. We do not control them and are not responsible for what they do or for their availability.
AI output and actions taken for you
Answers come from the AI model you choose. They can be wrong, incomplete or out of date; check anything that matters before you rely on it. When you turn on page actions or connect tools, ChatPanel acts in your browser and accounts on your instruction. It pauses for your confirmation before sensitive steps, and you remain responsible for reviewing what it does and for the result.
Paid plans
- The Free plan costs nothing. Pro is sold as a one-time purchase or as a monthly or yearly subscription, at the prices shown on chatpanel.net when you buy.
- A subscription renews at the end of each period until you cancel. You can cancel at any time; Pro then stays active until the end of the period you paid for.
- A free trial that asks for a card becomes a paid subscription when it ends unless you cancel before then.
- Payments are handled by our payment provider at
store.chatpanel.net; we do not receive or store your card details. - For a billing problem or a refund request, write to [email protected].
The software
ChatPanel is licensed to you, not sold. You may install and use it on your own devices under these terms. The name, the logo and the software remain ours. Parts published under an open-source or source-available licence keep that licence, and it applies to those parts in place of this paragraph.
No warranty
ChatPanel is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement. We do not promise that it will be uninterrupted or free of errors, or that the features that depend on other companies' products will keep working when those products change.
Limit of liability
To the extent the law allows, ChatPanel and its developers are not liable for indirect, incidental or consequential loss, or for loss of data, profit or business, arising from your use of ChatPanel. Our total liability for any claim is limited to the amount you paid us in the twelve months before it arose. Nothing in these terms limits rights you have under consumer law that cannot be waived.
Ending
You can stop using ChatPanel at any time by uninstalling it; your data stays on your devices until you remove it. We may suspend or end a licence that is used in breach of these terms.
Changes
We may update these terms as the product changes. The date at the top shows the latest version; if a change is significant we will say so on this site. Continuing to use ChatPanel after a change means you accept the updated terms.
